STYLE ICON - The Queen of the Punk - Edwige Belmore

Mathématiques Modernes-Disco Rough album-photo: Pierre et Gilles

Today, the word: Punk is used without any knowledge of who were
the real punk icons of the 70's: Punk today is only a fashion style.
Rediscover or discover one of them: Edwige Belmore.
When i see model Agnyness Deyn, i think about only about Edwige.

"1977. PARIS IS PUNK...
The scene explodes, the bands go wild. Edwige throws herself into the fray,
briefly joining LUV, the legendary girl group.
That same year, she marries Jean Louis Jorge, Dominican filmmaker,
She is crowned "Queen of Punks" after appearing on the cover of Façade
with Andy Warhol, with whom she makes her first trip to New York.
He mentions her in his Diaries, photographs her, takes her to Studio 54
and the Mudd Club where she meets the elite of the NY underground:
Maripol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf,
the punk and No Wave groups.

On Edwige’s return to Paris, Fabrice Aymer offered her
the door at the Palace for its opening in '78.
Edwige was photographed by Helmut Newton, Mondino,
Pierre and Gilles, among others;
she walked the runway for Jean-Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler.

In 1979, Claude Arto approached her and
 together they formed "Mathématiques Modernes."
Their single "Disco Rough" came out in 1980
and was NME's "single of the week."
Album art was by Pierre & Gilles.

Inspirations of the night

Sometimes, i wake up during my sleep.
To help me to go back into sleep, i look around the web
for inspiring design, graphism and photogaphies.
I like to keep them in a computer file.
Maybe they will help me to find ideas.
Tonight, i look for photos around flickr and blogs.
Au carrefour de l'étrange, a book covers blog and a Art blog
( where i found the exellent New Wave band :
if you don't like Punk and free jazz don't look at it).
Agence Eureka is uploading vintage book covers, papers,
children designs and magazines on her Flickr.

Mina: My 60's italian pop singer

Photobucket

The Florence trip is over.
I came back in Paris tonight.
I went in marvelous places.
I will not write tonight about the journey.
But i would like to share one of the song i listen during the trip.
The great italian singer Mina Anna Mazzini
She has recorded over 1000 songs, 110 albums,
sold 76 million records, and scored 70 singles in Italian charts.

Photobucket

She gave up public appearances in 1978
and  became an invisible singer...

Photobucket
I have in my Ipod those 2 songs:
Enjoy them.

"Il cielo in una stanza"- 1960

"Renato"-1962

Tout sur cette scène: post punk / novö-diskö / new & cold wave hexagonale de 1978 à 1983;

Jean slim rouge strech - tripp NYC (autres couleurs disponibles).

Comédie Musicale: "Lord of Broadway"

"He wrote his biggest song hits....Out of broken hearts"

Should i reveal exacly how i feel?
Shoul i confess i love you ?
Should i recite beneath the pale moonlight?
And swear by the stars above you?

Could i repeat the sweetest story told?
Could i entreat, would it be too bold?

Should i reveal exacly how i feel?
Should i confess i love you ?

(Nacio Herb Brown /Arthur Freed)

En écoute 2 titres chanté par Charles Kaley:
"Should I ?"-  accompagné par the Arden & Ohman Orchestra en 1930.

"After i say i'm Sorry" un enregistrement de son début de carriére avec the Abe Lyman orchestra en 1926.
