Gothic inspiration: The Black lipstick Trend

Lancome’s new artistic director for makeup, Aaron de May, has created
a  limited set edition  that’s scheduled to launch in November.
The set, which is inspired by a pair of Louboutins includes
a red lipstick (Pita Red) and a sparkling lip gloss in Black (Piha Black).
You can wear the products separately or slick the lipgloss on
over the lipstick to achieve a multi-dimensional dark lip.

Also in mid-september, YSL Gloss Pur Black is described as  a sparkle-free

 lipgloss that’s “transparent, yet intense.”

This gloss was wore in Yves Saint Laurent: Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear: a very classic and elegant look

with white skin and black lips from the gothic look inspired by

Louise Brooks haircut, Punk-Rock and Batcave make-up.

Click here to see the video of YSL show.

On a Goth website vampfangs.com, you can find the true matte punk shade

with the affordable Manic Panic Raven Black Lipstick ($6.95).

If you want to lear  how to get a  strong Goth make-up look and

applying a black or dark lipstick, have a look to this tutorial video:

Urban Decay Lipstick in “Apocalypse”

One of myspace friend the lovely and elegant Euridice is a great source of inspiration.

I love her pale skin look with black retro eyes mixed with vampire burgundy inspiration.
Her look is definitively more modern them the goth black eyes.

I wonder dear readers, if you will fall for
this Gothic black and darker make-up inspirations?

Platinum Blonde

"Platinum Blonde"

I wanna be a platinum blonde
Just like all the sexy stars
Marilyn and Jean, Jayne, Mae and Marlene
Yeah they, they really had fun
In a luminous day-glo shade
Walk into a bar and I'll have it made
'Cause if that's all it takes; a double processed blonde
I wanna be a platinum blonde
I wanna be a platinum blonde
Be a platinum blonde

Yeah I even tried wearing a wig for a while
It was the right colour, but not the right style
Gonna get some peroxide at the beauty supply
See ya later

I wanna be a platinum blonde
Just like all the sexy stars
Marilyn and Jeane, Jayne, Mae and Marlene
Yeah they, they really had fun

Now if you need me on Sunday and you look twice and see
That platinum blonde is gonna be me
In a double processed luminous day-glo shade
When I get this colour I'll have it made in the shade
Oh, I hope I'm OK
I wanna be a platinum blonde
I wanna be a platinum blonde

Honey, I gotta, I gotta, I gotta, I gotta
I gotta be a platinum blonde
I gotta be a platinum blonde
I gotta be a platinum blonde
I'll hit the bottle baby

Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand

Garland debuted a weekly television series: The Judy Garland Show, on September 29, 1963.
The show was critically praised, but the show lasted only one season and was cancelled in 1964 after 26 episodes.
Despite its short run, the series was nominated for four Emmy Awards.
Although not a success for Judy, the show left a lasting legacy of wonderful performances by Judy and her guests.

I was amazed to hear the performance of Judy Garland and the 21 year old Barbra Streisand in the show.
The 2 divas are singing a wonderful Broadway medley.

Medley song's:
- Hooray For Love / Leo Robin & Harold Arlen
- After You've Gone / Henry Creamer & Turner Layton
- By Myself / Howard Dietz & Arthur Schwartz
- 'Swonderful / Gershwin
- How About You / Burton Lane & Ralph Freed
- Lover, Come Back To Me / Sigmund Romberg & Oscar Hammerstein II
- You And The Night And The Music / Howard Dietz & Arthur Schwartz
- It All Depends On You / Buddy G. DeSylva & Lew Brown (lyrics) & Ray Henderson (music)

And in this counterpoint duet: Barbra Streisand sings "Happy Days Are Here Again"
while Judy Garland blends in "Get Happy."

The Collins Kids

I am still in New York. I am planning to work on a rockabilly music compilation,
around bleecker street and in Williamsborough there are great records shops.
I found rockabilly LPs to work soon on.
When i was looking for information about rockabilly, i discovered the amazing
Collins Kids.

Historically credited as one of the originators of "Rock-A-Billy" music in the mid 50's, at the age of eight and ten, Tulsa, Oklahoma born Larry and Lorrie Collins, entertained audiences around the globe as "The Rockin' Rollin' Collins Kids".

The Collins Kids - Just Because

The Collins Kids - Great Balls of Fire

Born and raised in Pretty Water, Oklahoma, their father and mother sold the farm and the cows to move to California so the two talented children could pursue their show business destinies. Within a year, the two joined the cast of the weekly country music showcase on Los Angeles television in 1954. It was on "Town Hall Party" that teen idol and TV star Ricky Nelson first saw Lorrie Collins. Before long, she became his first steady girlfriend.

The Collins Kids appeared on national TV shows like Ed Sullivan and Steve Allen and toured with country music stars of the day like Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins before Lorrie's teenage marriage interceded. By 1962, the duo even stopped recording, while Lorrie concentrated on motherhood and Larry turned his skills to songwriting.
