Paris cafés and nightlife in 1962 by Tom Palumbo

Tom Palumbo (1921–2008)

Brodovitch - the well-known Art Director of Harper's Bazaar -
hired Tom Palumbo almost immediately
and he stayed at the magazine for three years shooting everything
from beauty features to movie stars and haute couture.
Then he left for Vogue where he remained until 1962
shooting covers and traveling on assignment
around the world.

Tom Palumbo archive is incredible.
The fashion and celebrity work is wonderful - but so is this street photography.
He became a theatre Director and was a member of the Actor's Studio.

Here are some unplanned candids taken in Paris in 1962 - after the runway shows.
The same week Yves St. Laurent's runway show vaulted Dior to new heights.

Scenes of Paris cafés and nightlife were shoot
at Les Halles (which no longer exists as it did then).
